8th Grade Fall Sports Night
NHS Blood Drive tomorrow!
Silex Youth Baseball Camp will be held for 5th, 6th, 7th & 8th grade boys. Camp dates are Sept. 8, 9, 10, 11, 14, 15, 16, 17, & 18, 2020. Location will be on the baseball field, high school gym, old gym, classroom or batting cages, depending on weather & other events. Camp will be held from 3:00 - 4:15 p.m. The camp is FREE and will teach the basic fundamental skills to play at a competitive level. It will be limited to 20 participants. Priority will be given to older applicants. If numbers are high, we will consider hosting a second camp. Camp is hosted by Coach Hufty & Coach Bair. Flyers have been sent home. Please return the flyer ASAP to school.
Silex Students were surprised to find four new water filling stations throughout their campus when they returned to school on August 25, 2020. The filling stations were provided through the Midwest Assistance Program, Inc. (MAP), through funding from RCAP Agua4All. They received this grant through the Chris Long Foundation. The foundation has provided a grant to the Rural Community Assistance Partnership to help schools replace or retrofit their water fountains with filtered water filling stations. Midwest Assistance Program, Inc. (MAP) the Midwest RCAP, assists rural drinking water, wastewater & solid waste utilities in finding solutions to their infrastructure needs. The school district provided every student with their own water bottle. Since August 25, the filling stations have saved over 2,100 plastic bottles from going into landfills.
