Attention Silex Community: Tomorrow, Friday, February 27th, Silex FFA members will be driving their tractors to school and this may slow down traffic in our school district. Please use caution, be patient and be prepared for a delay in your morning commute. Thank you!

We are excited to begin the Silex Track & Field season and look forward to a great year!
Practice will begin on Monday, March 2nd.
Practice times are as follows:
Mondays: 3:00–4:30 PM
Tuesday–Friday: 3:45–5:15 PM
Please note that practice times are subject to change based on weather and track meets. A full schedule will be sent home with your athlete in the near future.
Athletes should dress in layers, as we will be outside as much as possible. On days when we practice indoors, practice will end by 5:00 PM.
Communication will take place through Remind. Please be sure to join the appropriate group:
High School Code: @silextrack
Junior High Code: @silexfield
This is our primary way to communicate important updates with both parents and athletes, so it is important that you join the correct Remind group.
We expect all athletes to demonstrate excellent behavior both in the classroom and at track meets. As a coaching staff, we reserve the right to withhold an athlete from an event, a meet, or even dismiss them from the team due to behavioral concerns.
Track and Field is a fun and challenging experience that helps athletes grow into well-rounded competitors. Please understand that athletes may not always participate in their preferred event at every meet. Due to team numbers and meet entry limits, there may be occasions when your son or daughter is not entered in a particular meet. If possible, we would still like to have them travel with us to these meets. These decisions are never easy and are made thoughtfully with the best interest of each athlete and the team in mind. Our goal is to provide meaningful opportunities while supporting both individual growth and overall team success.
If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out. We are looking forward to a successful and exciting track season!
Sincerely,
Silex Track & Field Coaching Staff

Physicals for the 2025-2026 school year: sports physical evaluations are required every two years in order to be eligible to participate. If you are needing a physical, new forms must be filled out. All 4 pages must be filled out by your physician, but only the last page (MSHSAA Medical Eligibility Form - Step 3) must be turned in to your coach. Keep the other 3 pages for your records. If you have a physical on file from last year and it is good for another year, you do not need to do anything.
If you have a physical that has expired or needing a new one, you must fill out the new forms. Please be sure to obtain a physical and fill out the "pink practice card". The code of conduct form and drug testing form must be filled out (if you have not filled one out before) and must be turned in prior to the first day of spring sports practices. High school and middle school forms must be turned in by the first spring practice in order to participate in any practice. Click https://5il.co/3gr3w and https://5il.co/3gr3z to print out the forms.
Forms and the practice card can be picked up in the high school office. ALL athletes must turn in a pink practice card before the 1st practice to participate.
Middle school and high school spring practices start on March 2nd. If you have any questions, please see Coach Francis.

-Mr. Obrien's route will not have a stop at Flamm Road.
-Ms. Boedecker will stop at Olney Central Elevator Road off of Nineveh instead of Olney Baptist Church.
-Mr. Henke's route - Will run Quarry Road, Tagg Road as normal because both are clear.
We will have one pick up spot in Silex New Town at scheduled time.
As roads continue to clear and improve we will make adjustments to the routes.
If there are any changes, your bus driver will contact you. To find snow route info., go to the Silex School website or Facebook page.
