District Softball Information: Friday, October 16, 2020 at Community R-6. Game time is 6:00 p.m. Gate admission is $5.00 per person for ages 6 years and older. No passes will be accepted. Please bring your lawn chairs. Silex will occupy the 3rd base dugout. There are currently no restrictions in place, but please wear a mask when social distancing is not possible. Good luck to our Lady Owls!
As we are coming to the end of our first quarter, we would like to remind everyone that we are asking that any student or adult who is exhibiting the following symptoms, or have experienced any of the following symptoms, please DO NOT enter the school facilities for at least 24 hours: -Temperature greater than 100 degrees -New or worsening cough -Shortness of breath or trouble breathing -Sore throat, different than seasonal allergies -New loss of smell and/or taste -Diarrhea -Nausea or vomiting -Headache -Muscle or body aches -Fatigue -Congestion or runny nose. Activities for Wednesday, October 14, 2020: Book Fair; NHS Sock Drive.
Thank you Hawk Point Lions Club for donating brand new dictionaries to Mrs. Capstick's & Ms. Wright's third grade students. The students receive their own dictionary every school year. The Lions Club has been donating the dictionaries for about 10 years.
Thank you to the Nolan Family for their donation of the pumpkins that will be used for the Elementary Pumpkin Decorating Contest. Each class is invited to decorate a pumpkin as their favorite storybook character. Other staff members are encouraged to participate as well. Pumpkins will be displayed, and students will get to vote on their favorite pumpkin!
The Scholastic Book Fair is running until Friday, October 16, 2020. Books make great gifts & stocking stuffers! Thank you for your support!

NHS members visited each junior high and high school class this morning to kick off their “Socktober” drive. NHS is collecting new socks of all sizes through next Thursday to benefit Lincoln County Youth In Need. The winning class will get a pizza party!

Dear Parents, Guardians, and Community Members,
On the afternoon of Friday, October 9, we were informed of a positive COVID-19 test within our school district. Contact tracing is in progress through our partnership with the Lincoln County Health Department. Should your child be identified as having been in close contact with the positive case, you will be notified by school administration, and subsequently, the Lincoln County Health Department.
In the meantime, please continue to monitor your children for any symptoms associated with COVID-19. Keep them home if they are sick and follow up with your healthcare provider or the LCHD.
As always, thank you for your flexibility and understanding as we maintain our goal of in-person learning while keeping the safety and welfare of all staff and students as our number one priority.

NHS's "Socktober" starts October 12, 2020!
Best of luck to our FFA Trap Teams as they head to the State Shoot tomorrow at Linn Creek. Students Pre-K - 12 lined up outside to wish them well! Good luck!
Congratulations to our Change Drive Winners! Ms. Cat's preschool collected $234.58. Mrs. Wright's 3rd grade was the Elementary winner with $167.93 collected. Sixth Grade won in the Middle School with $219.21 collected. The total collected was over $1,400! Thank you to everyone who supported the Change Drive!
Silex PTO is selling masks and gaiters! Great for sporting events. Flyers were sent home with elementary and middle school students. Order forms are available in both offices and are due October 14, 2020.
