Coach Henke will have Lady Owl Softball District Champs shirts available today after school until 3:30 p.m. in the H.S. office, tomorrow morning before school until 8:00 a.m. in the H.S. office and at the Sectionals game tomorrow night. Shirts are $10 each and come in sizes Youth S, M, L & adult sizes S - 2XL. Available while supplies last. Cash or checks payable to Silex R-1 School please.

As we begin our second quarter, we would like to remind everyone that we are asking that any student or adult who is exhibiting the following symptoms, or have experienced any of the following symptoms, please DO NOT enter the school facilities for at least 24 hours: -Temperature greater than 100 degrees -New or worsening cough -Shortness of breath or trouble breathing -Sore throat, different than seasonal allergies -New loss of smell and/or taste -Diarrhea -Nausea or vomiting -Headache -Muscle or body aches -Fatigue -Congestion or runny nose. CONGRATULATIONS MRS. HARRELSON FOR RECEIVING A $500 GRANT FROM AUTHOR JAMES PATTERSON AND SCHOLASTIC BOOK CLUBS!
Bestselling author James Patterson and Scholastic Book Clubs today announced that Silex-area teacher Liz Harrelson is to receive a grant of $500 and 500 Scholastic Book Clubs Bonus Points for the purpose of building classroom and at-home libraries for her students. Mrs. Harrelson is among 5,000 teachers throughout the United States who received a grant, part of a $2.5 million personal donation made by James Patterson.
Mrs. Harrelson’s grant is part of a $2.5 million personal donation from Patterson, and a Scholastic Book Clubs match of 2.5 million Bonus Points

To be considered for the grant, Mrs. Harrelson was asked to share in 50 characters or less how she plans to use the funds and Bonus Points to help build her classroom library. As a grant recipient, Mrs. Harrelson will have access to additional support from Patterson and Scholastic Book Clubs in the form of a special online boutique filled with promotional discounts on books for every type of reader, as well as a monthly newsletter filled with ideas for building classroom and at-home libraries, all created with the goal of helping teachers stretch the dollars even further to benefit as many kids as possible.
Tonight's Silex vs. Community District Championship Softball game can be heard on Eagle 102 KJFM Radio. Pregame show will start at 5:45 p.m. Game time is 6:00 p.m. They will load the game video to their website after the game is over.
