JUNIORS AND SENIORS: The deadline to take the ACT on October 17th is today. You can register at act.org to take the test at a few different locations. Physicals for the 2026-2027 school year: sports physical evaluations are required every two years in order to be eligible to participate. If you are needing a physical, new forms must be filled out. All 4 pages must be filled out by your physician, but only the last page (MSHSAA Medical Eligibility Form - Step 3) must be turned in to your coach. Keep the other 3 pages for your records. If you have a physical on file from last year and it is good for another year, you do not need to do anything.
If you have a physical that has expired or needing a new one, you must fill out the new forms. Please be sure to obtain a physical and fill out the "practice card". The code of conduct form and drug testing form must be filled out (if you have not filled one out before) and must be turned in prior to the first day of winter sports practices. Due to the projected heat in the forecast, the Cross Country meet at Van-Far on Tuesday, September 8th will start at 6:00 p.m. with MS girls, 6:15 p.m. for MS boys, 6:30 p.m. for Varsity girls and 7:00 p.m. for Varsity boys. Due to the projected heat and staying within MSHSAA guidelines, the Montgomery County at Silex Softball Game on Thursday, September 3, will now start at 6:30 p.m. With the change in start time, there will be just the Varsity Game that evening...NO JV.

Silex Owls Athletes and Fans: Out of an abundance of caution with the extreme heat that is being forecasted for the upcoming week and following strict MSHSAA mandates, all practices on Monday, August 31st will conclude by 10:00 a.m. Additionally, each program will practice 6:00-7:30 a.m. or 6:00-7:30 p.m. on Tuesday and Wednesday. If they have not already, each coach will be communicating Tuesday & Wednesday’s practice times shortly.
Please be aware of any updates for alternative start times for this Thursday’s, softball home opener against Montgomery County.

Morning drop off and afternoon pickup procedures:
Students are not allowed to enter the building until 7:30 a.m. Morning drop off for ALL students will be in the elementary parking lot. Please enter the high school parking lot, make an immediate left turn onto the road that runs parallel to Hwy UU (where the old bus barn used to sit), and make a right into the elementary parking lot. This drop off procedure is for all grade levels, elementary, middle, and high school. The buses will drop off at the high school entrance giving more room for drop off on the elementary side. Students will be directed to their classrooms and cafeteria from those designated areas. Pickup after school for car riders will be in the high school parking lot (enter on the gravel road before the high school entrance) and buses will dismiss from the elementary lot. Parents need to stay in their vehicles while dropping off and picking up. Preschool and kindergarten parents are allowed to walk their children in for the first week. Thank you for your cooperation.
