Dear 2024 Graduates and Parents:
This letter is to provide you with information regarding graduation and preparation for the celebration of Commencement from Silex High School. As we prepare for this special day, there are a few things that we would like you to please keep in mind as graduation approaches.
Senior Final Exams will be given on Wednesday, May 15th followed by the class trip on Thursday, May 16th. The destination is yet to be determined. Students who chose not to attend the class trip are expected to report to school that day. If needed, make-up Finals will take place immediately after Graduation practice on May 17th.
Please hang up your gown and press it to remove any wrinkles. Use a cool iron otherwise the material will scorch. It is also a good idea to have hair pins to secure the cap. If you are planning to decorate your cap, there cannot be anything hanging down off the cap and the design on top of the cap must be school appropriate.
Graduation practice is mandatory and will be held at 9:00 am on Friday, May 17th, 2024. Please bring your cap and gown to practice. If a student has not earned the required credits by graduation, they WILL NOT be allowed to participate in the ceremony this year.
Graduation will be at 2:00 pm on Sunday, May 19, 2024 in the High School Gym. Seating is first come, first serve. Graduates need to be in the cafeteria by 1:00 pm for last minute preparations and a group picture.
Male graduates will need to wear a white dress shirt and tie, dress slacks, and dress shoes.
Female graduates will need to wear a dress or skirt, blouse and dress shoes.
Please make the counselor’s office aware of scholarships you have received outside of those awarded through the school.
All school issued devices must be returned. Class dues, lunch bills, extracurricular expenses, textbook fines, and other outstanding fees must be paid by May 17th. A final bill list will be turned into the high school office on May 15th. Please feel free to check your account at that time.
