Welcome To SAFE! SAFE is a project that us Eighth Grade Girls are currently working on. It all started when two kids in our school were in a accident that involved the use of alcohol. One of them lost their life and the other was seriously injured. The boy that was only injured was on coach's basketball team. So of course, on Monday when Coach was in class, he was really upset about what had happened. He went into a long lecture about alcohol and the harmful affects of it when used. He gave us a class assignment.
We were to come up with an idea on how to help prevent this within our community. We thought it was just an assignment we had to do for a grade. We didn't realize that he was serious. Soon though, we realized that he was and we were ready to come up with something good that could actually work. The next time we would be in his class was on Wednesday, so we had two days to come up with some ideas for the assignment. We got to class on Wednesday, and were excited. Coach had us stand up one by one and present our ideas to the class. We voted on it and came up with the idea of SAFE.
We want SAFE to be a place where kids can hang out and have clean and safe fun. We voted, and decided we wanted to build a local hangout where kids could go.
On Feb. 3rd 2009 Julie Hook From NCADA Joined Our Class For A Time And We Had Questions And Answers. We Also Decided To Form A Coalition
